American Diabetes Wholesale & Diabetic Rockstar: A Team FIGHTING For YOU

The Diabetic Revolution is NOW

“Fighting For Those Waiting For A Cure”

Fight It is an unique non-profit campaign that aims to help financially struggling, uninsured and newly diagnosed diabetics. While larger non-profits and organizations raise money for a cure, we are fighting for those waiting for a cure. The goal is simple: To ensure that no diabetic must struggle, whether it is physically, emotionally or financially, anymore.

"Fight It" was the first program Diabetic Rockstar Inc focused on building and developing, identifying an increased need throughout the diabetes community for a method of which to support those struggling. Strengthened by a growing number of corporate sponsorships, and led by a number of Diabetic Rockstar volunteers, Fight It is quickly being recognized as a powerful, inspirational and grassroots campaign.

Why The Need For “Fight It”

Diabetes is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. Nationwide 25 million people, and 240 million people worldwide, are fighting to properly take care of themselves daily. This is past the point of epidemic and disease; diabetes is simply a fact of life right now for a growing part of our population. And too many people are struggling to live through it. The extreme costs associated with battling diabetes can be astronomical even for the well-insured; this often leads to many people cutting corners in order to survive. The average uninsured diabetic will spend more than $8,000 per year on medical expenses. Even those insured will pay close to $3,000 per year.

The complications and risks associated with diabetes goes further than money. A growing segment of diabetics are suffering from conditions like eating disorders and depression, often the result of not having the financial ability to receive proper care.

It is time that someone helps these people before it is too late. Things must change. Things will change.

Brought to you by Diabetic Rockstar, "Fight It" is simply one of a kind. From testing meters and supplies, insulin and medication, to eye exams, doctor visits and counseling, we will do what it takes to help people live like the Rockstars they are. It is our hope that this is truly the start of the Diabetic Revolution, that we will be the organization that forces change in the way individual diabetics are supported and cared for.

The Diabetic Rockstars will be heard. We will make a difference.

As Diabetic Rockstar enters its second year, and continues to expand its charitable reach, Fight It remains a priority. Keeping up with the economic climate of the current, we have slightly transitioned to more of a re-distribution of supplies for those who need them. Please see the "requesting aid" page for more information.

ABOUT US:

Diabetic Rockstar was incorporated as a non-profit in the state of New York in October of 2008. We have applied as a tax-exempt public charity under section 501c3 of the IRS tax code in January of 2009.

In lieu of official acceptance of the 501c3 application, Diabetic Rockstar, Inc. is operating as a non-profit corporation, focused on the following charitable interests:

1) Hosting, operating, moderating and maintaining the Diabetic Rockstar Social Networking Community. The Diabetic Rockstar Community is unlike any other, offering a platform for unique and important diabetes-related dialogue, a place where people can be themselves and discuss anything, a place where nothing is taboo or risque.

2) Organizing, implementing and managing the Mentoring Program, matching diabetics with mentors experienced to each person's unique situation.

3) Developing and maintaining a database of diabetes links, affiliations and partnerships, aimed at helping individuals locate necessary information as well as save hundreds of dollars in diabetes-related expenses.

4) The continuous growth and development of many programs currently under construction, such as the New Member Welcome Kits, Newly Diagnosed Care Program, a 24 Help Line, mental & emotional complication counseling, private group health insurance and many others.

5) Developing and expanding the Fight It campaign. Fight It works with persons on an individual basis, consulting with the aid applicant. The initiative helps these individuals find the medical, clinical, financial and product support they need to handle the extreme emotional and physical costs associated with diabetes care and management. You can read more about the Fight It campaign under "The Program" tab above.

FROM THE DIABETIC ROCKSTAR FORUMS

Diabetes and PCOS

Are there any women out there with PCOS (poly-cystic ovary syndrome) and diabetes. I have been told I am type 1, but now I think I may need a fourth opinion. I was watching some medical mysteries show and they were talking about PCOS-my inability to have children, diabetes, etc, matched almost everything the lady was going through......My doctors never seemed alarmed when I revealed this to them. Of course this could be one of many hypochondriac episodes. But are there any women who are type1 wh…

General Anesthesia for Diabetics

I am getting my wisdom teeth removed in a month and will be put under general anaesthesia. My oral surgeon told me that he has never operated on a patient with the pump before, and that he needs to speak with my endocrinologist...
I have put them in touch, but I was wondering if there is anything that I should know/do before being put under?

What causes ketones when bloodsugars are in good shape?

Last year I became sick and was constantly throwing up and using the bathroom. It was right after I woke up so i figured i forgot to take insulin before my night snack and my blood sugar was just high. Before i actually checked my blood sugar I checked my ketones which the strip turned almost black indicating super high ketones. Of course after this i expected my blood sugar to be really high but to my suprise was in the mid 100s. I was completely confused and didn't know how to get rid of them…

Problems with my finger nails

I always had beautiful and strong finger nails. I was diagnosed 6 yrs ago as a type 2 but they changed the diagnosis to type 1 4 yrs ago. Since my 1st diagnonis, my finger nails began to go bad; ie, they split, peel, crack and just get no where. I'm not sure if this is coincidence or the meds I took earlier as a type 2 or the Novalog insulin I use in my insulin pump now are the culprits. - has anyone else had this problem?

memory problems

Hi there I am just wondering if anyone has had any concerns relating to memory loss. I don't mean major memory loss such as in dementia. Recently I have been forgetting things such as appointment times or mixing up the dates of appointments even though I have it written in my day book and have looked at it numerous times in the day. I have been repeating myself in the same conversation and realize that I already asked that question (I can often recall the answer after I have asked again and got…

Exercise… Or the lack there of…

Ok so I have been diabetic for 15+ years now and really have no excuse for not understanding how to exercise. Well I get the concept but to be honest it terrifies me. It sounds weird to say that something as simple as exercise is scary but I have deep fears about going low in a strange environment or around people that will not understand. I live right next to the river and it has a great trail next to it which would be great to go on long walks with my dog but I am nervous about it.

I tell mys…

Wow, that's a lot of meds!

I've been fighting Diabetes and Congestive heart failure for almost 5 months now, and along the way have added one medication after another. I have a total of 8 different medications, most for my heart problems, and with all the different dosages and times that I take them, I end up taking 13 pills a day. My current regimen is as follows:

Morning:
2 x Coreg 6.25MG
1 x Aspirin 81MG
1 x Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5MG
1 x Plavix 75MG
1 x Famotidine 20MG
1 x Metformin 500mg

Is it Neuropothy???

Okay, I need opinions/experiences!!!

I have had "acute neuropothy" (sp?) from the beginning; pain and numbness in my hands, legs feet...

I recently started having my hands go to sleep while I was sleeping. Now I hve had this before, but it was occasionally and it was when I slept on my arm different. The last few weeks, it's been every night. And not while I was laying down, Only when I was asleep.

Outside of the frequency, the big difference was the way my hand felt the next day. After about…

Overwhelmed and scared

Okay so I'll just explain my whole story from when I was little little.

I was a perfectly healthy kid growing up or so everyone thought. But then I had horrible headaches when I was 7 and would get abnormally grouchy when I would get hungry. I was always in the nurses office at school. But diabetes was never considered. Then when I was 8 massive weight gain. It didn't make sense I was in gymnastics I was in dance. I shouldn't have been gaining weight. But thyroid problems were never considered.…

OK, HELLLLP!!!!

I just spent 10 days in the hospital. Long story short, bmy plumbing bogged down, and I ended up with (a repairable) gastroparesis. They're switching me to counting carbs instead of just dosing myself. I spent 8 of the last 10 days drifting in and out of consciousness, so the little bit of information they gave me may as well be Greek stereo instructions. Where do I start? All information related to this matter will be immensley appreciated!
